The two main mortgage types (hypotheekvormen) in the Netherlands are the annuity mortgage (annuïteitenhypotheek) and the linear mortgage (lineaire hypotheek), both of which qualify for mortgage interest deduction. Older forms such as the interest-only (aflossingsvrije) and savings (spaar) mortgage still exist but have stricter rules for new buyers. Your choice affects your monthly payment, your repayment speed and your tax deduction.
