Can I rent out my home or get a buy-to-let mortgage in the Netherlands?

Renting out a home bought with a normal owner-occupier mortgage usually needs the lender’s permission, while a dedicated buy-to-let mortgage (verhuurhypotheek) applies if you buy specifically to let. Buy-to-let financing has its own conditions, deposit requirements and interest rates, and a rented property falls in box 3 for tax. It is assessed differently from a mortgage for your main residence.
