If neither partner can or wants to take over the home and you cannot agree, selling the property is often the outcome, with the equity (overwaarde) or any residual debt (restschuld) divided. Independent advice, and sometimes mediation, helps you understand the financial options first. A court can ultimately order a sale if no agreement is reached.
