What is the difference between BRP registration and RNI (non-resident)?

BRP registration (Basisregistratie Personen) is for people living in the Netherlands for more than four months and gives you a full resident registration, while the RNI (Registratie Niet-Ingezetenen) is for shorter stays and provides only a BSN. Both give you a BSN, but a mortgage and most services usually require resident (BRP) registration. You move from RNI to BRP once you settle here.
