The NHG (Nationale Hypotheek Garantie) is the national mortgage guarantee that acts as a safety net if you cannot repay your mortgage due to events like job loss, disability, divorce or the death of a partner. It usually gives you a lower mortgage interest rate (rentekorting) and can cover a residual debt (restschuld) if your home has to be sold at a loss. NHG is available up to a maximum home price (NHG-grens) that is set each year and is backed by the Homeownership Guarantee Fund (WEW).
